After traveling the whole world we learned a very important lesson that completely changed the way we travel: seek advice from the locals. They know better and you will have a greater time. It’s a completely different experience hanging out with somebody that lives in the city you are visiting. With this in mind, we interviewed Joel to give us smart travel advice and share the essentials gay travelers need to know before one goes to Ibiza. He is very passionate about photography and shared with us his favorite spots in the island.

WHERE TO STAY
The gay scene in Ibiza is all mixed up, so it doesn’t really matter where you stay . The places are all gay friendly there so the gays are welcomed everywhere. Of course location wise the best neighborhood for a gay guy to stay is in Ibiza. Specifically, stay near the port area because it’s near “La Calle de La Virgen”, a gay bar street in Old Town and just 400m to Heart Club where “La Troya” make it famous for the gay parties on Wednesdays.
WHERE TO PARTY
There is no gay clubs in my city, but there is a gay bar street open every day and the gay scene is mixed, including the techno parties. Go to Gliterbox on Friday at Hï and La Troya on Wednesday at Heart. Also there is Chiringay, a gay beach club in a naturist beach. And if you have the chance go to SÔD bar, it is a popular gay cocktail terrace in Ibiza Town with good music and drinks.
Don’t miss the sunset at the famous Cafe Del Mar. It is a unique – and pricey – experience that will make you always come back to Ibiza.

THINGS TO DO
Enjoy the beaches! Go check out Sa Caleta Beach. It is a World Heritage site and a must see if you are into exploring the nature of the island.
Go to Cala D’hort, which is one of the most iconic beaches in Ibiza where you can see Es Vedrá island. It is one of the most magical experiences and a must see, to have a full Ibiza experience and start your night reenergized after watching the sunset! There is a legend in between the locals. They say this tiny island Es Vedrá is the most magnetic point on Earth.
Enjoy the live drums at Benirrás Beach during sunset time every weekend with a dramatic cove and clear waters. Visit the Old Town as I mentioned before, go to the Hippie Street Market and definitely enjoy the party!
WHERE TO SHOP
The best place to find clothes is in Old Town Ibiza. There you can find a lot of small boutique stores in between the alleys with cool fashion pieces and affordable prices. Go to Hippy Market – The hippies left footprints in Ibiza so you can find a variety of handmade clothes and jewelry there. Visit Mercadillo Las Dalias on Saturday mornings.
WHEN TO GO
During Summer time Ibiza is the place to be if you are looking for a party. But don’t forget Ibiza has much more to offer with beautiful nature that you can explore during the winter as well. It looks like two completely different islands each season, so it’s up to your mood because Ibiza has different vibes depending on the season.
DAY TRIPS
In Ibiza there are plenty of options to party at night, but you can also find a lot of fun things to do during the day. From catamaran cruises, to ferry boat trips and nearby islands, the island has a bunch of fun activities to offer.
