Italy is one of our favorite places to travel and I guess having a sun flower field on the backyard made our experience even more especial. https://youtu.be/-Uons5_O3oM When we decided to spend two months traveling around Europe, we realized that it would be fun to be based in a central location where we could easily explore the nearby cities. We both had the desire to spend some time traveling in Italy so finding a central location there was very important for us. After some research and talking to a couple of friends that live in Bologna we realized that it would be a good idea to be based there. Besides the fact that Bologna is right in the middle of Italy and it’s less than an hour by train from Tuscany, the city is known for being one of Italy’s greatest cities for eating. We definitely wanted to eat pasta…
OUR NEVER ENDING HONEYMOON
People always come to us asking how was your wedding reception? Where was it? How many people were there? I find this funny because it never comes to my mind to ask couples this question about their wedding party. That’s probably because we both decided to skip ours not having to think much about it. Most people envision this as the most important day of their lives and I think it should be. This is the day we want to remember with a smile on our faces forever, but honestly, organizing a wedding party sounded really stressful and neither of us wanted to take on that role. Also after putting all the numbers together, we realized that to throw a party the way we wanted, having at least a hundred of our closest friends and family would cost enough money to take us on a world tour, so guess what…
ROMANIA HAS ONE OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL ROADS IN THE WORLD
When we went to Romania we were expecting to see a lot of castles including Dracula’s. But we were definitely not expecting to discover that one of the most beautiful roads in the world is also located there. The road that takes you to the glacier Lake Balea is situated at 2,034 meters of altitude is considered one of the most beautiful scenic routes in the world. Traveling through the Transfagarasan Road was our number one thing to do during our stay in Romania and you can fit it into a day trip leaving from Bucharest early in the morning. If you are into nature and breathtaking views this is the place to be for sure. Balea Lake is about four hours from Bucharest and we were really surprised with so much nature and beauty, this is one of the places I think of when people ask me where is…
THINGS TO DO IN HAVANA – TRAVEL HAVANA
Havana is a great place to explore for two reasons, both Old Town and Central Havana are safe and walkable. We didn’t see or hear of any crime while we were there and locals talk about crime as something that doesn’t happen very often. When we travel we love to learn about local history and culture, so that’s why a tour guide sometimes is very handy but in order to feel the city in a more personal way and get a deeper understanding of the local culture, for us is essential to explore the city on our own, walk around and get lost in the streets, talk to locals and feel the city in a different way that you probably won’t feel while in a group guided tour. Sometimes leaving the beaten path can be scary, and that’s ok to feel like that, I was afraid to leave the beaten…
Our stay at the Fairmont Jaipur
We stayed at the Fairmont Jaipur for two nights and we both were really impressed with the high quality of the service and the hotel instantly upon arrival. As we walked into the hotel, we felt like we were in a very luxurious palace. That’s because we were. Everything is impeccable and very clean. Bedrooms and bathroom were spotless. Breakfast was one of the many highlights of our stay, they have this huge buffet that is served in two enormous rooms with very high ceilings and beautiful art display. Local birds and squirrels played on the patio while we ate our first meal of the day. The hotel is located about 15 minutes from the Pink City, away from all the noisy streets and the big crowds, which worked perfectly for us. We spent most of the day exploring as much as we could and then we would go back…
VISIT TO THE GHATS OF VARANASI
“Being in a funeral definitely was something that we never thought we would experience during a vacation, but the cremation in the Varanasi Ghat is a completely different ceremony than most of us are used to. We didn’t see anyone crying or sad faces which was such a relief for us. People are not allowed to be sad. Some are even happy that the soul found salvation which we found as a very interesting way to deal with death.” Rising from the Himalayas, the Ganga is considered the holiest of rivers by Hindus. According to mythology Varanasi liberates soul from human body to the ultimate, it’s believed that the ritual of having the body cremated at the Ghats (the crematory temples by the river) and having the ashes thrown to the river will provide salvation for the human soul. These Ghats have been there for thousands of years and we…
NEW YEAR’S IN RIO
Rio de Janeiro is our number one place to spend New Years in the world. Every year we try to think about another destination to go but we always end up coming back to Rio and here are the main reasons why: UNIQUE CULTURAL SEASONAL SCENE GOOD PARTIES AMAZING BEACHES One of the coolest things about being in Brazil during this time of the year is that you get to witness a really particular New Year’s tradition that the Africans passed to Brazilians and now is followed by every single citizen in the country. During New Year’s eve you will see everyone wearing white clothes, it means peace. Also you will see thousands and thousands of people on the sands of Copacabana jumping waves in hopes for good luck as they throw flowers and offerings in the ocean dedicated to Yemanja, the Goddess of the sea. It’s believed also that…
WHERE THE LOCALS GO – BANGKOK
For us, traveling is all about connecting to people. It is a completely different experience when you hangout with a local or simply have a piece of travel advice from somebody that understands the local culture in a deeper level. It will save you a lot of time and open up your eyes to appreciate the true colors of a place that many times are hidden in between tourist traps. For this reason we interviewed Matthew, he is a pole dancer passionate about dance and travel living in Bangkok. Pole dancing has actually opened me up to this international community of loving, dedicated and extra people all across the globe. Now I meet new friends passing by Bangkok and in every city, I visit, I try to take a class at the local pole studio. Everyone should try it once in their life. He shared some of his favorite things…
WHERE THE LOCALS GO – GAY LISBON
Portugal was such a nice surprise for us. As virgins to the country, we landed in Lisbon not knowing what to expect. We knew we would have a lot of things in common like the same language for example, which helped us to dive deeper into the culture. What we didn’t realize until we arrived is that visiting Portugal was a way cooler experience than we thought it would be. Besides having the most delicious food, we felt very safe and welcomed by the Portuguese people during Gay Pride Lisbon. Also I think it is fair to give credit to Portugal for becoming one of the first countries in the world to win the battle against drugs. If you’ve never been to Lisbon, there has never been a better time to go. There are a lot of exciting things happening in Portugal, for that reason we interviewed Nelson Farrim to…
WHERE THE LOCALS GO – NEW YORK CITY
We don’t even think about it, but we spend hours and hours planning our trips. Although we love to be free spirits and go to with the flow, planning is always necessary and we know what it takes to put together a fun-filled itinerary. We’ve learned an important lesson that changed the way we travel – locals with similar interest have the most reliable source of information and can save you a lot of time. Thinking of that we interviewed Angel and Jose. They live in NYC and besides being the cutest couple, they also are world travelers and inspire us everyday sharing their adventures around the world. Together we travel, learn, and want to share all of our experiences as a married couple with the rest of the world. Here is what they have to say: WHERE TO STAY In our opinion, there are a couple of gay-friendly places…
